The Cyclades, Dodecanese, & the Saronic

For most of us, the "Greek Islands" are in fact the Cyclades, home to white houses with blue shutters, and it's true that they are of extaordinary beauty, and despite the tourist hordes they have preserved their authenticity, each island with its own personality and charm. But they are far from being the only jewels in the amazing crown that is Greece. There is also the Dodecanese with all its rich diversity. Less frequented, these islands to the east near the Turkish coast offer a wide variety of scenery and atmosphere: the picture postcard that is Symi, the active volcano of Nisyros, the vineyards and wines of Samos, the 21 churches of Lipsi all visible from a single point, the cliffs of Tilos...

This year, we are based on Poros in the Saronic Gulf but going weekly up to Nafplion at the head of the Argolic Gulf via Hydra, Spetses, and Ermioni. Little of the charter milk run gets to the Argolic so we find more Greeks and less outsiders! That is what we seek.

Nisyros

L'île qu'est un volcan. Nous visiterons le cratère!
